About Me

Veteran teacher of 27 years, I celebrate my career everyday. Sharing the love of music with young people, making music with colleagues, and continued learning bring a fresh joy to my life and fan an ever-present zest for the art.

My undergrad work at the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley, awarded me ample experience in ensemble playing from concert, women’s, and jazz choir, to big band and jazz combos (playing key board, tenor sax and flute); from operas to the solo piano recital hall, I enjoyed a full performance life while ascertaining a degree in vocal, piano, and general music education, K-12. I still perform locally for special occasions, small concert venues, and am a part of a local chamber ensemble. I hold a Master of Arts degree in Musicology and a Certificate in the Piano Performance Styles of the Eras from Regis University. The pursuit of this degree has led me to a fervor for research, publishing, the teaching of music history and appreciation, and the creation of the Schumann Soiree, a modern version of the 18th century salon.

I began teaching private lessons in piano and voice in 1990 and have never stopped. Private lessons are my most favored mode of teaching. My home studio flourishes with students of all ages, beginning to advanced. I also teach classes at Children’s Music Academy, loving the early childhood environment, and the expert and high-energized curriculum. My love of education and children gifted me with 14 years of home schooling experience, 3 years of Waldorf Education training, and an Elementary Education endorsement from CDE.

I do a lot of work with CMTA and CSMTA including serving on the Executive Boards of both organizations, chairing local events, and enjoying some of the best colleagues a person can have.

Next to private teaching, my favorite venue is the master class. I enjoy every aspect of the experience from participating as the clinician to the performer, or the engaged audience member. Loving research and my area of expertise, I look forward to continued publishing and presenting to groups and organizations on subjects of interest from pedagogical topics to musicology and beyond.
